Britain Prepared to Employ Frozen Russian Funds to Finance the Ukrainian Military Campaign

The United Kingdom is set to progress with utilizing the total value of seized Russian holdings to aid Ukraine's defense operations, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a joint statement, the leaders of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany stated that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel the Russian Federation to participate in talks.

They added that the move would be carried out in strong partnership with the United States.

United Kingdom penalties have blocked more than £25bn of Russia's funds since Moscow began its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. But, until now, resources sent to Ukraine using Russia's assets had solely been sourced from profits and interest earned on them.
