A minimum of 16 people were killed and in excess of 40 were hurt when gunmen shot at a Hanukah event at Bondi Beach, an incident Australian police are describing as a act of terrorism.
According to the most recent information, authorities have confirmed the death toll remains at 16, encompassing one of the alleged attackers. Additionally, 42 injured people were admitted to medical facilities.
Those who died have not yet been publicly named, but authorities state their ages are from 10 and 87 years of age.

Originally from London rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first victim to be named.
Reportedly a father of five children, he served as the assistant rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Relatives and acquaintances remembered him as “vivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How can a happy rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?” a relative remarked.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the arrival of their youngest child in October.
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, as stated by his wife.
She told the events leading up to the shooting, saying they were standing when the shooting began. “He shielded me because he wished to be near me,” she recalled.
The husband and wife were both survivors of the Holocaust, having endured unspeakable terror in their childhood. They had later moved to Australia from Ukraine.
French foreign ministry have announced that French national Dan Elkayam is a casualty.
Officially, a senior official expressed that France mourned with his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This despicable act is a new, tragic manifestation of a disgusting rise of hatred against Jews that we must eradicate,” the statement read.
A child who was rushed to the a children's hospital is among those who had died, according to police reports.
An Israeli citizen was also killed in the incident, according to multiple sources citing the Israeli government.
From the 42 people transported to hospital, many remain under care, with five in critical condition. Those hurt include two officers who responded to the attack.
One of the injured is a bystander who attempted to intervene to tackle one of the attackers. Described as a hero, he sustained gunshot wounds but is expected to recover in hospital.
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a community leader. Sources state he was wounded and underwent treatment in hospital.
In a message, he recounted the incident as an “absolute bloodbath,” but also noted the response of those who came to assist. He stated he believed it was a “miracle” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was also injured in the attack. He told reporters he listened to “a large number” of shots.
“Initially, I believed it was something less lethal, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he stated. “I sustained a gunshot wound. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
